The Ambic Story
Founded in 1983, Ambic have been making quality bespoke educational furniture for a long time, and we think we've just about nailed it.
Starting off as a one man business in the Enterprise Workshops at Byker with a 320 sq. ft unit, a bag of tools and a £200 overdraft, Ambic has transformed into one of the leading manufacturers of bespoke educational furniture in the North East.
In 2009, we moved in to our purpose-built state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in Chester-le-Street, County Durham. It occupies 24,000 sq ft (2,400 sq m) on a 5 acre site with major external storage, vehicle manoeuvring area and extensive expansion space. The facility is a fully integrated production unit utilising the latest technology and CNC controlled manufacturing methods.
With separate departments for Wood Machining, Sheet Metalwork, Welding, Powder coating & Painting, Polishing, Precision Engineering & Tool Making, we have an unparalleled capability to make just about anything – and we love a challenge!
We’re also approved fabricators of Solid Grade Laminates, such as Trespa. This means that we can design, fabricate & fit out washrooms, toilet cubicles, laboratory & kitchen furniture benches & worktops. We even use solid grade laminates for some of our cloakroom furniture.
